Maize, a very well-suited food

All food distributed to animals is made only of maize, either as whole or crushed grain maize.

Maize is indeed very well suited to feeding web-footed birds as it contains a high level of starch, a necessary source of carbohydrates for the lipogenesis process.

Maize can be distributed as whole or crushed grains.

Whole maize grains

Whole maize grains first remain in warm water for 12 hours. Then farmers mix them with water to feed the animals.

Crushed maize grains

Maize is crushed until very fine grains are obtained. Then farmers mix them with water to make gruel or mash making it easier to assimilate.
